Pontiac SUN TimeBank

The Pontiac SUN TimeBank is a community of people who support each other. The SUN TimeBank is based on the idea that everyone has something valuable to contribute, and everyone could use a little help and social enrichment. Pontiac SUN (Strong United Neighbors) values what it takes to raise healthy children, build strong families, revitalize neighborhoods, make democracy work, advance social justice, and make the planet sustainable.

Here is a brief overview of how timebanks work: If you are a member of the timebank, when you spend an hour providing a service for a SUN member or participating in a community activity, you earn one hour. You can then use that hour that you earned to buy one hour of service from another timebank member. Please see the cartoon below for a better idea of how timebanks work.

At SUN TimeBank, members like to ask, “How can we help each other build the world we both live in?” In addition to connecting people to valuable services, SUN provides many opportunities to engage in fun community activities, from movie showings and potlucks, to art and cooking classes. Timebanking brings out the best in people because it connects unmet needs with untapped resources.
